Sanibel & Captiva Islands Fishing Report ~ tarpon in Boca Grande Pass soon …

Tarpon @ Boca Grande Pass, Sanibel, Captiva & Boca Grande Fishing Charters.

As we noted in yesterday’s blog, there are multiple reports of tarpon staging out in the gulf, which probably means tarpon will be coming into the bay through the passes, including Boca Grande, sometime in the next several weeks.

If the water continues to warm at this pace, peak tarpon fishing at Boca Grande could heat-up anytime now.

I may take a look out in the gulf today or tomorrow to see if I see any tarpon.  They won’t likely be rolling.  They will be in 30-40′ of water, but you may see some at the surface.

Come on – let’s go fishing – or let’s go shelling.  Just give me a call and we’ll lineup a charter!

Sanibel & Captiva Islands Fishing Report ~ tarpon staging to move into passes

Huge 250+ lb. tarpon Jimmy, my cousin, caught & released on his fishing charter last May.

Tarpon have been reported out in the gulf!  There have been early sightings of tarpon out in 30-40′ of water in the gulf, staging to come into the bay.

With the warm winter, we’re at least a month, maybe six weeks, ahead of the season.  As the water temperature continues to increase, tarpon could start coming into the passes and into the bay anytime now, which would be very early for tarpon season!

Get ready … it is going to be a fun spring of tarpon fishing!

If you are really ambitious, we can try and go out into the gulf, find ’em and try to catch tarpon on cut bait in the deep water.

Come on – let’s go fishing – or let’s go shelling.  Just give me a call and we’ll lineup a charter!
